I have leant basics of java, XML, firebase. I am able to create Instagram like app. But I want to proceed even further by enabling users to chat through the app (only major feature currently missing in my app). I have no idea as to where to start. Can anyone suggest a verified course which could help me learn?
For your further questions, I'm introducing you Google - your best friend, when you have a question and you are looking for the answer.
Some of good resurces (where I don't know where are you with your knowledge):
thenewboston channel (youtube), help me a lot when I started learning Android development, they also provide good tutorials on other languages
Udemy
Coursera also has a lot of good resources
And a good advice, based on my experiences from work: start learning about Hybrid mobile technologies like React native, Ionic, Flutter, etc. because they are also very popular these days and I'm sure they will grow in future.

so I've been coding in java for the past 2 years, mainly making mods for Minecraft. Recently though I started making discord bots, and I've never really done anything with Java outside of Minecraft, and was using JDA(Java Discord API), and i realized how fun it was. I was wondering if any of you guys knew of some API's i could use to do some cool stuff with :D
If your looking to toy with some nice REST api's to interact with I could definitely suggest looking towards Amazon Web Services, or any of the Google API's such as Google Maps, or even Facebooks API.
Cheers and happy coding! :)

I am designing an app. I want to know store some metrics about my app in free cloud database. The metrics includes which functionality users using more, number of downloads, user preferences etc. Later, I would like to query this database to understand app metrics.
I googled and found there are some free database hosting services like FireBase, Buddy. I am not sure which one to choose for my use case. Any suggestions?
I know this is not a programming question but its a design requirement I want to make, and if it not the correct place to ask, atleast route me to correct path instead of simply closing or down voting.
I found answer to my question finally! It is Google Analytics.
Simple and easier to configure and use. Still exploring :-)

I'm learning android for 6 months and now I decided to read some fresh book. All that I read was an old book on russian based on android 2.3. It sucks, I know.
So could you help me to make a right choise? Thanks.
If you know java pretty well, and have clear concepts about OOP. You can learn android from anywhere. But to have a smooth flow and step by step learning I would recommend this Android Contest of CodeProject. It is a series of very nice and winning articles on specific topics of android. If you complete it, you'll definitely learn a lot.

I've worked on a lot of web applications in Django. Now I've to write a webapp in Java as the system it will be interfacing with is all written in Java.
I'm not sure what would be a good framework to work with. I've a lot of experience working in Java, so language is not a problem but I'm looking for a framework that favors conventions over configuration and is easy to get started with.
I would recommend Play Framework, it's inspired by Ruby on Rails and has a very short development cycle - just save your source code and update your browser. It also has good integration with testing frameworks. I have used it for a few months and it is easy to understand.

I am interested in an array of software ideas and use more than one language, is there somewhere that concisely lists software development conferences year by year? I'd like to know what options are out there for this year and searching by ideology/language isn't practical in my opinion to get an overall.
Some ideologies/languages that interest me (but open to others):
TDD (with various languages, not just Java)
Agile (w/Scrum, Kanban)
Java
C++
.NET/C#
Development Tools (IDE, Debuggers, etc...)
Not a listing but I use http://www.infoq.com/ to watch videos of past conferences.
ConfRadar is a really nice to tool to find out about conferences. I am sure you'll find what you are looking for.
Just a list of conferences which I see useful http://lanyrd.com/topics/software-development/
Plancast just launched an O'Reilly section. Not exactly what you're looking for, but might be useful.
