Maven unable to find assertEquals symbol during maven install goal - java

I am writing my test cases in my maven application, but during maven install goal, this is the error I am getting

Please take a look into this error.
Below is my test class, for which I am getting the exception, the exception is the the assertEquals() part, although I have imported the Assert.assertEquals as static, but still there is error.

You are using the wrong assert, try changing
import static org.junit.Assert.assertEquals;
to
import static org.junit.jupiter.api.Assertions.assertEquals;

My Pom.xml is only running junit 4 test cases not juint 5 test cases

I had unit tests of both junit 4 and junit 5 in my project. Now when i run my test cases through mvn clean install or mvn test. it only runs junit 4 test cases. It does not run junit 5 test cases. Can anyone help me to understand the issue I have in my POM.xml due to which only junit 4 test cases are running with maven commands.

Your project is apparently a Spring Boot application because your pom.xml file has spring-boot-starter-parent as the parent. Spring Boot specifies dependency and plugin versions that were curated to work with that Spring Boot version. By convention, a Spring Boot project typically uses the dependency and plugin versions specified by Spring Boot.
Your pom.xml file overrides the maven-surefire-plugin version that Spring Boot would have used. If you delete the element:

P.S. For folks wondering "why have both JUnit 4 and 5" - the JUnit documentation says it best:
...it is not expected that source code maintainers will need to update all of their existing tests, test extensions, and custom build test infrastructure to migrate to JUnit Jupiter.
Instead, JUnit provides a gentle migration path via a JUnit Vintage test engine which allows existing tests based on JUnit 3 and JUnit 4 to be executed using the JUnit Platform infrastructure.
This approach is wonderful for large legacy codebases that can't be upgraded big-bang.

As of JUnit 5.4, you can replace these dependencies with a single one:

Maven Guava missing method Sets.symmetricDifference

I have a very strange problem. I added the following dependency to my pom.xml

When I try to call write the following code:
import com.google.common.collect.Sets;
Sets.symmetricDifference(currentSet, referencedSet);
My compiler says: Cannot resolve method 'symmetricDifference' in 'Sets'
Yet I know that this method exists, I even found it in google's repository
Does anyone understand why this might happen? I also tried different guava versions, but nothing seems to help.

The imports and usage of the library is correct.
The version also includes the method that you want, I've just checked.
This indicates that the compiler is unable to locate the relevant jar on the classpath.

The “cannot find symbol” error comes up mainly when we try to use a variable that is not defined or declared in our program.
When our code compiles, the compiler needs to verify all identifiers we have. The error “cannot find symbol” means we're referring to something that the compiler doesn't know about.

If you want to use 2.19.1 in your current build your should use plugins and not pluginManagement. If you are not sure about the difference between pluginManagement and plugins, I strongly recommend you see the Maven doc
Putting maven-surefire-plugin config outside of pluginManagement and removing the dependency of type <type>maven-plugin</type> should to the trick.

Spring Cloud Contract compilation problems when using maven

I recently added spring cloud contract to our spring project following the instructions on their tutorial site here (https://cloud.spring.io/spring-cloud-contract/#quick-start).
I managed to write contracts, generate stubs and everything works as expected, but I have a problem when working with a clean project after pulling it off our repository. When I let mvn test run I get compilation errors in the generated test-class because it seems like the project itself didn't build before so the base-class for the contract tests on the producer site doesn't seem to exist yet.

But when I build the module by hand and run mvn test afterwords everything works as expected. Is there something wrong with the declaration of my POM?

For some reason your project can't see your base test class. It's not on the classpath. Are you sure you placed it in a proper folder? You'd have to show your folder structure. Also you can check out https://github.com/spring-cloud-samples/spring-cloud-contract-samples and do sth similar. BTW src/main/test looks really bad so most likely your project setup is wrong. I'd suggest keeping the contracts and the base classes under src/test/resources and src/test/java respectively

Datanucleus enhance using Maven in GAE, Build Failure

I referred to article as here which defines how to enhance a class for data nucleus. I am trying to do the same using Maven but keep on getting build failure
