I am using mvn to build a simple Java code, I expect mvn could package a signle jar including all dependencies.
When I ran command "mvn clean package", it always generate a jar "myapp-1.0-SNAPSHOT.jar", it doesn't contain any dependenies.
However, when I ran command "mvn clean compile assembly:single", it can generate expected jar, jar name becomes "myapp-1.0-SNAPSHOT-jar-with-dependencies.jar", it contains all dependecies.
I am confused why the command "mvn clean package" doesn't work? what's wrong in my pom.xml or what's missing in pom.xml? Could anybody give some helps?
The following is my pom file.

I'd like to create a runnable/executable jar using maven's assembly plugin using the assembly:single goal. (I'm using Eclipse and Java 8, Maven 4) However, only an empty, small size jar created (1 KB or sometimes 2KB) in the target folder.
My pom.xml is the following:

I have installed the Maven For Java extension on VS Code on a Mac M1 with jdk17 installed. When I create a new Maven Java Project from the Java Projects tab, and specify the quickstart archetype, a new blank Maven project is created with a default pom.xml. Intellisence detects multiple problems with the XML file. Here are the problems:
VSCode problems tab
Also, the run and debug buttons that should appear next to the main method of App.java are not there and the java projects tab does not contain a project:

I have tried creating a blank project(without maven) and that one works fine, I can create a project and run it.

and here is my complete pom.xml file.
I am having a problem with Eclipse Luna-1 resolving dependencies using the M2 Maven extension to Eclipse. See screen shot below, I appear to have a build path that has in it the correct .jar files, and these file are present in the .m2 repository. All shown in the screenshot. The build does not appear to be looking in the repository JAR files to satisfy the imports.

I have a multi-module maven project where module A/B/C depends on module D.
Plugin maven-surefire-plugin is used for test phrase.
However,
mvn clean package
doesn't generate surefire-reports under **/target/
And
mvn clean; mvn package
could generate surefire-reports as expected.
This confused me a lot. Although the workaround for me is simply splitting to two mvn commands but I would like to know why?

Multi-module Relationship
Module A/B/C depends on Utility Module and no dependencies among Module A/B/C.
Update:
It seems everything's fine for a single maven module projects. Something related to the multi-modules?
i have a project in eclipse where i try to run a selenium junit test.
I converted the project to Maven
When i run this java -jar My-Test-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar
It says:
no main manifest attribute, in My-Test-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar
What is wrong with me pom file?

Is your project a web project?? Because as I know, Selenium only works with web projects. And there you have your project packaged as a jar (not as a war)
