Following steps as described here:
I think I have configured steps 1-4 but starting up my IS V5.7 for step 5 falls apart.
Initial problems like an incorrectly formatted user-mgt.xml and missing jdbc jar file I was able to solve but I don't have a clue how the remaining problems are to be addressed.
Configuration complexity is huge in this environment.
I run Windows 10, Java 1.8 IS 5.7 and Apim 2.6 & MySQL 5.7
Don't seem to be able to attach files.
At the end of this post I will list the server log starting from where things go wrong.
if in need for further info please let me know
Anyone any suggestions?
Thanks Peter

Caused by: com.mysql.cj.exceptions.CJCommunicationsException: Communications link failure
The last packet sent successfully to the server was 0 milliseconds ago. The driver has not received any packets from the server.
As per the above stack trace, DB connection has failed.
DB connection can be failed due to one or more of the following causes:
1.IP address or hostname in JDBC URL is wrong.
2. Hostname in JDBC URL is not recognized by local DNS server.
3. Port number is missing or wrong in JDBC URL.
4. DB server is down.
5. DB server doesn't accept TCP/IP connections.
6. DB server has run out of connections.
7. Something in between Java and DB is blocking connections, e.g. a firewall or proxy.
8. An issue with Jdbc driver like incompatible version or wrongly-placed it
9. Miss some parameters in JDBC connection Url like useSSL
Our Recommendations
To resolve any of the above mentioned issues, you can follow below given instructions.
Verify and test them with ping.
Refresh DNS or use IP address in JDBC URL instead.
Verify it based on my.cnf of MySQL DB.
Start the DB.
Verify if mysqld is started without the --skip-networking option.
Disable firewall and/or configure firewall/proxy to allow/forward the port.
Putting correct Jdbc driver to correct place
Pass the required parametres to establish the connection

I've Jenkins job to run groovy script which will import some data on Azure Postgres db. Here is my groovy part of postgress connectivity. I've added all the dependency classes in the groovy script.
def driver = Class.forName('org.postgresql.Driver').newInstance() as Driver
def props = new Properties()
props.setProperty("DB_user", "admin#sample-prod-eastus2")
props.setProperty("DB_password", "HmSaSx5aX")
def conn = driver.connect("jdbc:postgresql://admin#sample-prod-eastus2.postgres.database.azure.com:5432/db_name?ssl=true", props)
def sql = new Sql(conn)
But I'm getting some connection attempt failed. I tried to telnet from my Jenkins server to Azuredb and it has the connectivity. I'm not sure whether its due to Java or something else.

I know for sure there's nothing wrong with the credential and AuthMech. Someone please help.
Problem solved. I upgraded my Impala JDBC driver to 41, and got rid of transportMode=http;httpPath=cliservice in my connection string.
I am trying to connect Pentaho to Hive, so that I can run Hive queries through Pentaho.
I have installed Pentaho 6.0 on my Windows 7 (Professional 64bit).
I have configured Hadoop on "Bare metal server". The details of Hadoop system are as follows:
Apache Hadoop V 2.6
Hive v 1.1
YARN
I tried connecting to Pentaho by using connection type:Hadoop-Hive 2, Database name:default and Port No:10000. I have added Hive JDBC jar file from this web link: http://mvnrepository.com/artifact/org.apache.hive/hive-jdbc/1.1.0. At the end when I try to connect, I get the following errors:

There should be a JDBC Driver for Hive and you can use it to connect Penthao to your Hive Storage. It should be as simple as to register a new database instance.
Have a look at this link: HiveClient
Get the JDBC Driver for Hive if it isn't available
Follow the instructions to install the JDBC Driver Penthao Description
Configure a new Hive Database Connection
When I test an RMI client and server with the class files it works without any issue on two different machines. Now when I do the same thing with a jar the client fails to connect to the RMIRegistry on the server. Then when I test with the jar on the same machine, the client can connect to the server (even over the network ip and not localhost).
I suspect this has something to do with the RMI registry, but i'm a total novice at RMI, so I have no clue...
I create an RMIRegistry like so:
rmiregistry = LocateRegistry.createRegistry(ServiceConstraints.REGISTRY_PORT);
rmiService = (RmiSubjectService) UnicastRemoteObject.exportObject(this,
ServiceConstraints.REGISTRY_PORT);
rmiregistry.rebind("RmiService", rmiService);
The client connects like this:
remoteService = (RmiSubjectService) Naming.lookup("/" + host + ":"+ port + "/RmiService");
The error I get on the client when running with a jar:
java.rmi.ConnectException: Connection refused to host: 192.168.2.132; nested exception is:
java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect

The problem did turn out to be the network. Specifically it was that I didn't realize that my firewall was blocking the socket, so I could not connect.
